Class Descriptions:

HYDROBICS is a total body workout in water that benefits people of all ages. Being in the water makes the body feel lighter enabling more to participate. Those with arthritis, diabetes, and other health ailments report that the symptoms of their illness have improved with movement to get the heart rate up. Also included are cool down exercises and a final stretch to get a good thorough workout.

ARTHRITIS CLASS begins with a warm up and stretching movements for the upper body, neck, waist, legs, knees, ankles, and hands. All of these joints and muscles are gently worked out according to the Arthritis Foundation Book on Exercise for Arthritis.

DEEP WATER WORKOUT will let you exercise as gently or as powerfully as you wish. Beginners will start slowly until a good form for water walking and running is established. Balance is the key. Once correct form and balance are established, workout intervals will provide a thorough aerobic workout. The faster you move, the more resistance you encounter, and the harder you have to work. **An appropriate flotation device is required. An Aqua Jogger style belt or standard water-ski belt is required. (Noodles may be used only for the first class)

GENTLE YOGA postures are adapted to the water for fun and relaxation. These exercises will enhance flexibility, strength, and breathing, as well as compliment your land-based workout. As the stresses of the day start to disappear, the water provides support and resistance for an enjoyable and effective workout. Traditional postures that have been modified for the water include the Warrior, Eagle and Cobra. The wall becomes the floor for Sun Salutation. This class is designed for a wide range of ages and fitness levels. Stretch, flex, and tone your way toward fitness. Please consult your doctor before beginning hydrobics, arthritis class, yoga, deep water, or any other exercise program.
